Security Deposit

In Dutch ‘waarborgsom’ or ‘borg’
Sum of money taken from the tenant at the start of a tenancy. It is normally held against non payment of rent and/or damages/missing items. Usually equal to one months rent for unfurnished and 2 or 3 months for furnished accomodation. If a homeseeker can’t provide proof of income sometimes a landlord settles for a raised security deposit
